  • 2lbs flour
  • 9 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup semolina
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. Combine the flour, salt, 1 egg, vinegar, and 3 cups of water. Knead until you form a medium-hard dough.

Step 2: Roll and Layer

  1. Roll the dough into thin sheets (approximately 10). If desired, pre-made filo dough sheets can be used instead.
  2. Place all sheets in a baking tray, one after another, basting each one with melted butter.
  3. Cut the layered sheets into squares or diamonds.

  1. Bring the milk to a boil, add sugar, remaining butter, and semolina while stirring constantly.
  2. Allow the mixture to cool, then add the 8 beaten eggs. Mix well.

Step 4: Assemble and Bake

  1. Pour the milk and egg mixture over the pastry sheets.
  2. Bake for about 25 minutes in a 375°F oven.
